FAQ

At Family Vet Services, we receive a ton of great questions from pet parents. Below are some common FAQs that might help answer any questions or concerns. Please feel free to call us at (419) 678-3610 for any other concerns you might have about your pet.

Billing Questions

Do you bill?

We do not bill. We do accept credit cards, checks, and cash. We have a credit company program in place that is our only option available for billing. CareCredit utilizes an application that is very similar to a credit card application.

Do you accept Credit Cards?

We take Mastercard, Visa, Discover, and American Express. We also accept CareCredit.

Do you accept personal checks?

Yes, we do take personal checks.

Do you give a Senior Citizens Discount?

We do not have a Senior Citizens Discount in place at this time.

Do you require a deposit when my animal is hospitalized?

With seriously ill or injured animals, we may require a deposit at the time of hospitalization. This is usually half of the estimated charges. The balance of the bill is required at the time of discharge of the animal.


Other Questions

Do you treat birds or exotic pets?

No, we do not treat birds or exotic pets. However, we are happy to refer you to a practice that does.

Do you take spay/neuter certificates?

We accept certificates from our Mercer County Dog pound. We are not currently participating in any other spay/neuter programs.

Do you offer grooming?

We no longer offer grooming due to unavailability of personnel

Do you board pets?

We do not board any pets at our facilities but we would be happy to point you in the best practice that does.

Will someone be with my pet if it has to stay overnight?

We do not have staff members stay in the hospital overnight. Animals requiring round-the-clock attention may be transferred to the West Central Ohio Veterinary Emergency Service in Lima.

My pet is currently on medication prescribed by a different practice. Can I get a refill without an appointment?

It is illegal for us to dispense medication to pets that we have not seen. We may only prescribe medication for pets we have seen in the last 12 months.

Where are you located?

We are conveniently located in Coldwater, Ohio. Our clinic address is 800 N 7th Street, Coldwater, OH 45828.

What services do you provide?

We are a full-service companion animal hospital that provides a wide range of care from Wellness/Preventative Care to Surgeries and Pain Management. We also accept grooming appointments. To learn more about all the services we offer, please click the dropdown menu under Services.

Do you accept emergency appointments outside of office hours?

We no longer see emergencies after hours. If you have an emergency please contact the emergency clinic, West Central Ohio Veterinary Emergency Service at (419) 221-0269. The WCOVES hospital in Lima will fax all of our patient’s records to us so that they can be added to our files.

Do you operate by appointments only?

We prefer to make appointments to minimize waits. We make every attempt to work with seriously sick or injured pets as soon as possible. However, there may be times when we will be unable to do so, and we will recommend other emergency services to reach out to.
